Nanatsu no Taizai Wiki

Hope, Discord and Despair「希望と葛藤と絶望, Kibō to Kattō to Zetsubō」 is the 294th chapter of the manga, Nanatsu no Taizai.

Short Summary

Elizabeth convinces Mael to come help them in Camelot while Escanor and Merlin attempt to fend off the Original Demon.

Long Summary

Looking over the corpses of Derieri and Oslo, Mael chants and suddenly, their corpses disappear into light. Gowther asks what he did just now and Mael reveals it to be Invitation to Reincarnation, a spell that allows their souls to be reborn with their past memories intact. Mael says if they want to punish me, then he'll gladly accept it. Gowther then claims he will accept just as much punishment as Mael before asking him to come to Camelot with them. Mael clenches his fist and questions having to fight the Demons as a Goddess, claiming that his brother, Elizabeth, Sariel, Tarmiel or any of his brethren would want that. Elizabeth approaches them and says she does want him to help before clarifying that this isn't about either side winning; it's to end the Holy War. Close by, Diane sits and questions what's taking Gowther and the others so long.

Hawk calls it a complicated situation but King decides they have to head to Camelot as soon as possible like Ban told them to, having a bad feeling about the immense presence that's appeared. Diane asks King if he thinks Merlin and Escanor are okay. King waves his hand and sprouts a tree from the ground. Then, the leaves from the tree fly around King as he gains a new suit. King says he's worried too, which is why they need to go. Diane blushes about King's new look before questioning where his Chastiefol is. Hawk spots Elizabeth and Gowther heading back. Diane guesses Mael decided not to come, only for Mael to appear behind them, ready to head to Camelot. At Camelot, Escanor and the Original Demon exchange a fierce number of slashes. After the shockwave causes the ground to break, the Original Demon expresses his disappointment about how this is all Escanor has to offer after noon has passed. A slash wound suddenly appears on Escanor's chest but Escanor doesn't relent, claiming what he's got is still too much for him before firing Cruel Sun, engulfing the Sinner in a large explosion.

Merlin tells Escanor they have to hold out long enough for King and the others to arrive but Escanor cockily claims they're more than enough for the likes of him. Having blocked Escanor's attack with his shield, the Original Demon tells him not to act so tough before insisting they'll die before help arrives. Merlin teleports behind the Original Demon in the air and fires Exterminate Ray. The Original Demon fires a blast from his mouth that overwhelms Merlin's attack and hits her directly, causing Merlin to fall to the ground. Angered, Escanor charges in blindly but the Original Demon kicks him into the air with his hind legs. The Original Demon prepares to kill Escanor, only to then feel a large magic approaching at high speeds. Suddenly, First Form: Chastiefol appears and the Sinner attempts to block the spear with his shield but the spear still gets through. As they all fly towards Camelot, (with Gowther riding on Hawk in his Tyrant Dragon form and Diane surfing a wave of the earth) King declares they won't let anyone die.

Question Corner

Q321. Chezze-san: Please tell me the drawing points of Escanor in the morning, noon and evening!

Nakaba: Morning and evening are almost the same. The closer to noon the more macho he will be!
