Chion「キオン」 is a Holy Knight of Liones serving under the Tristan Platoon of prince Tristan Liones and the son of Gilthunder and Margaret Liones.

Chion has dark-purple hair that has bangs covering the left side of his face (much like his father Gilthunder) where it shows that he has a scar and blue eyes.[2]
Two years later, he cut his hair, leaving his scar exposed.
Personality[]
Chion is a rather crude and cynical boy, despite knowing that Percival was a member of the Four Knights of the Apocalypse, he still attacked him and lied that he was from Camelot, even ensuring that he couldn't speak and defend himself using Sylph. He did the same thing to Anghalhad, Donny and Nasiens, keeping them from speaking and almost suffocating them. Chion's negative attitude is largely due to the disturbing influence that Vivian had on him during the critical moments of his childhood, where he initially had Gilthunder's intelligence and diligence, as well as Margaret's tender heart and kindness.
Like Isolde and Jade, Chion is strictly loyal to Tristan Liones and the royal family, removing his powers after being told to. He shows a similar respect for those of a higher position, such as Guila, as well as Meliodas, despite his jovial nature. He chooses not to trust in prophecies, despite it originating from his grandfather, Bartra Liones, and instead himself, and those he, himself believes in.
For whatever reason, he looks down on and not trusting those he considers to be "country bumpkins". All in all, those who aren't of a higher class, having elitist views on life and actively looks down on others; as shown with Percival and Lancelot. Having an elitist mindset, Chion shows no real remorse for his actions, believing that it's within his rights. As further shown when he showed contempt for Percival, who retaliated for him almost suffocating his friends, then redirected all the blame for the incident on Isolde. None of these views changed despite Percival healing his mummified arm and Lancelot showcasing his superior powers against Jericho, thus protecting him, Jade and Guila.
History[]
Chion was born as the son of the Holy Knight Gilthunder and Princess Margaret Liones, having a happy and loving childhood until the age of 3 when Chion was kidnapped in his sleep by Vivian, who took him prisoner to force him to be her "son". Finding himself unable to escape her, Chion maintained an act of helpfulness for the next five years as he unsuccessfully searched for a way to escape. When Chion discovered his talent for the Spirit Arts, Vivian spent the next year teaching him how to master them hoping the boy would inherit her work with curses. However, Chion used his new abilities to finally escape from her. There he met Isolde and Jade, who would take him back to the kingdom.
Jade, Chion and Isolde becomes close friends. One time, the three of them went to explore a forest where they were attacked by a Moss Dragon but were saved by Tristan, who carried back a wounded Isolde.
Despite returning home, Chion was overwhelmed by the overprotectiveness of his parents and servants, who kept him confined behind a magical barrier to protect him from Vivian. When Chion was 12 years old, Vivian was finally able to break through the barrier, taking advantage of Meliodas and Elizabeth's absence to take him once again. Despite his parents and guards not daring to act for fear of hurting Chion, Tristan used his demonic power to save him, although this resulted in Chion being permanently scarred in the eye and Tristan being lost for days in a land far from the kingdom due to the loss of control of his power. When asked why he acted when no one else dared, Tristan told him that the worst thing he could do was abandon him. As a result of this event, Chion developed a blind faith in the prince.
Plot[]
Chaos in Liones arc[]
Chion and Jade are looking at strange glowing stones in the sky when they see Isolde chasing Percival. Jade suggest that they must stop her, but seeing the Dragon Handle in the boy's possession, Chion says that he is a knight of Camelot so they both join Isolde. When Percival tries to explain himself, Chion trickily uses a Sylph to silence him, making his companions believe that he has no way to excuse himself. The three then attack Percival, Chion is surprised that Percival endures being suffocated by the Sylph and how the Sylph is scared to see his magic. When Donny, Nasiens and Anghalhad arrive to help Percival, Chion summons the Sylph again to suffocate them and allow Isolde to assault them with her Morning Star. When they intends to finish them off, the three are interrupted by the arrival of Tristan Liones. Despite explaining that they are knights of Camelot, Tristan says that they are wrong and orders Chion to remove the Sylph, which he reluctantly does.
When Tristan reveals that they are actually allies of the kingdom, Chion gives Percival a false apology. That's when Percival, dominated by a strange power, takes him by the arm and to everyone's horror, mummifies it. After Percival returns to normal after a confrontation with Tristan, the latter attempts to heal Chion's arm, but fails, assuming it must be some kind of curse that his Goddess magic cannot heal. Chion is furious at what they did to him, saying that he can no longer be a Holy Knight with an arm like that. Despite the fact that his friends blame Chion for his actions, Percival somehow heals his arm. Tristan then orders him to apologize and thank him, which Chion does, although no one except Percival takes his words seriously. Tristan then reproaches Chion for attacking Percival even with the information the king gave him about the Dragon Handle being in allied hands and how the Four Knights of the Apocalypse looked like. Chion excuses himself smiling that he was confused to see how Isolde persecuted him so viciously.
When Lancelot arrives to informs everyone that Gawain, the Four Knights of the Apocalypse, has escaped, Chion, Jade and Tristan go looking for him at the east gate of the kingdom. Chion quietly complains about Lancelot's bossy attitude and how he treats Tristan. During the search, Chion questions if the Knights of the Apocalypse are really necessary. Jade reprimands him for doubting the king's prophecy, to which Chion says that he simply has a bad impression of Lancelot and Percival. Tristan defends his fellow Knights of the Apocalypse, but in the midst of the crowd, Chion separates from his companions and ambushes who he thinks is Gawain. Stating that he only trusts himself and not things like prophecies, Chion attempts to bury his target alive using his Gnome, but is stopped by Tristan and Jade who reveal that that guy is not Gawain but an apprentice who found the latter's armor.
Jade takes a detained Chion to the castle dungeon where he questions him about his actions. Chion berates him for doubting him childhood friend, but Jade insists that he tell him what his true intentions are to go against the Knights of the Apocalypse. Chion explains that he did it thinking of what was best for Tristan and to prevent him from being betrayed or delayed by these Knights of the Apocalypse in the worst case scenario. Jade concludes that Chion is too negative and asks why he just didn't express his concerns to Tristan, to which Chion says that he didn't want to be seen that way by the prince.
The two then discover a knight prowling the dungeon. Upon discovering that he is a knight of Camelot, Jade frees Chion and returns his staff to him. The knight deals a surprise sword blow to both of them, to which Jade recriminates his lack of chivalry even though the knight calls it a victory initiative. Chion scoffs that initiative is useless if they manage to fight back and prepares to use his Sylph, but the magic from the previous attack begins to freeze both of their bodies, rendering Chion unable to speak and in turn rendering their Spirit Arts useless. However, the two are saved by an explosion created by Guila. Chion is amazed to see the Vice Great Holy Knight, stating all the background information that he has about her. When the fight between Guila and the knight breaks out, Chion suggests to Jade that they leave, but Jade refuses. When Guila reveals the knight's identity as Jericho, Chion recognizes her as a former Holy Knight of Liones.
When Chion and Jade try to help Guila when she is at a disadvantage, Jericho avoids it by creating a wall of ice that Chion is unable to melt with his Salamander. The two watch from there as Guila breaks free from being frozen by assuming a demon transformation, but is once again trapped by Jericho's ice. When Lancelot arrives and saves Guila by throwing Jericho through a wall, he orders Jade and Chion to bring a frozen Guila to Thetis.
The night after the battle against Arthur Pendragon, Jade and Chion watch Tristan train with his swords.
Wolnack arc[]
The day after the battle, Jade and Chion find Donny leaving his grandparents' house. Learning that he is Howzer's nephew, Chion scoffs at how he abandoned training and ran away and how his magic power only allows him to float things. Donny initially brushes him off saying that he is used to being made fun of, but when Chion insults Percival as well, Donny abruptly pulls him away with his Telekinesis and angrily tells him not to let him insult him. The feud is stopped by Gilthunder who informs Donny that he has an audience with the king and then questions Chion for his actions.
Chion and the rest of the Tristan Platoon participates in the meeting in the war room to discuss the situation with Camelot. There, she makes fun of Gawain's size, leading her to set his head on fire for his insolence.
When Thetis teleports everyone to a landscape that has been stripped of various parts, leaving only empty spaces, Meliodas explain that it is the result of Arthur Pendragon creating a new Camelot, something he heard from Percival's grandfather who was a former Holy Knight of Camelot. Chion asks if he really believes the words of an enemy Holy Knight, but Meliodas states that he believes him. Chion says that they not only have a relative of Arthur but also a pipsqueak from Camelot, which further undermines his confidence, leading Nasiens to defend Percival by claiming that his birthplace doesn't matter. When everyone is left despairing that they have no way to get to Camelot, Chion says that he feels a good wind and scoffs the Knights of Prophecy (but Tristan). He and the others are shocked when Percival suggests they go on an adventure together to find a solution.
On the day that everyone will finally set off in search of a way to Camelot, Meliodas divides the Four Knights into search teams. The Tristan Platoon is assigned to go to the old Camelot. Chion is elated when Lancelot rejects the idea of going to Benwick, stating that the king's order cannot be refused.
Before leaving, Chion has a farewell with his parents. Chion says that he doesn't think Tristan needs him, but Gilthunder tells him that he envy him for being able to go on an adventure with someone he admires in his generation.
After leaving, the group arrives at Wolnack deciding to all stay there one night before splitting up in Dalmary. There, Isolde is glad to see everyone preparing for the festival in honor of the dead, which she had already attended along with Jade and Chion. At the inn, Chion ends up sharing a room with Lancelot and Percival, being furious about Tristan having to share a room with a stranger. Isolde and Chion end up going to see who Tristan is with, misinterpreting what they hear through Chion's Sylph when Tristan was just buttoning the shirt of the woman he was with, leading Isolde to break down the door in a huff. After dressing that woman herself, Isolde decides to stay in that room instead of Tristan, when the inn owner chides her for damaging the door. When Tristan is taken to the festival by that woman, Isolde and Chion follow them, getting nervous when they lose sight of them and ask the others to help them find them.
Chion ends up with Donny, Nasiens and Percival looking for Tristan, during which Donny says that Chion shouldn't get so attached to Tristan, being part of the royal family and son of the first princess. Nasiens suggests to Chion that he use his spirits to search for Tristan, which he doesn't consider due to excitement. However, they are all suddenly speechless, being ambushed and beaten by Macduff. Percival manages to heal everyone, but Macduff surprises him from behind and snaps his neck. When Donny manages to get rid of Macduff, Nasiens worries about Percival and Donny is upset when Chion denigrates that he saved them. When Percival recovers, Chion is stunned that he was able to come back to life, even though the magic is supposed to disappear along with its owner upon death. There everyone is surprised by Teaninich who launches her animals against them. However, they stop obeying her, which Nasiens takes advantage of to poison her with his Enchant: Bellandonna.
The group then reunites with Isolde and Anghalhad who had just defeated Macduff, however they discover that Jade sacrificed his life in the fight. Chion asks Percival to heal Jade, however, he is unable to revive him. Chion claims Percival and violently restrains him, demanding that he revived Jade as he did to himself, but Percival claims he is unable since if he could, he would have already brought his grandfather back. Chion throws Percival to the ground and in a rage, summons his Salamander to finish off Macduff with his Death Bird Funeral.
Back at the inn, a captured Teaninich tries to trade her life in exchange for Macduff's glove, but Chion just hits her with it saying that her crime is irreparable. When Tristan says that he is the only one to blame for Jade's death because he didn't undo the Jamming spell sooner, Chion says that it's wonderful that he got information from Ioradio about Camelot anyway, but Nasiens denies that a life is not worth any information making Chion angry for denigrating Tristan's actions. Hearing Percival's mini golems say that Jade's soul shouldn't be sorry since she already left that world, Chion punches Percival saying that the words of what he created with his magic must be his true intentions.
When Chion urges her to open the gate to Camelot, Teaninich asks him to keep it a secret that she did it, but Chion refuses to compromise. She says that Arthur will kill her if he finds out, but Chion says that they will kill her anyway if she doesn't. Teaninich decides to open the entrance to Camelot for them, pretending to escape while the opening distracts everyone. However, Teaninich is suddenly killed before finishing by a lot of animals coming out from her body.
The next day, Tristan introduces Ioradio to the rest of the group stating that she can give them information to get to Camelot. Ioradio apologizes because her magic was responsible for one of them dying, to which Anghalhad says that they won't forgive her if her information about Camelot is not useful. Ioradio affirms that yes, but that to get it they must accompany her to the Demon Realm.
Demon Realm arc[]
Arriving at a strange archway, Chion accuses Ioradio of reaching a dead end. However, Ioradio asks Percival to put his head in the arch, revealing that the entrance is hidden by an illusion. When Chion recriminates why they are going to the Demon Realm when they want to go to Camelot, Ioradio explains that there is an entrance to Camelot in the Demon Realm, being the only one she knows of. As they descend, Chion becomes upset with Isolde for receiving Tristan's care.
Reaching the end of a long descent, Ioradio admits that she did not consider that all of them could not survive the miasma of the Demon Realm. Although Tristan solves that problem with his Saint Coat, Ioradio says that many demons still hold a grudge against the other races, so she doesn't blame them if they don't want to move on. However, they all confirm that they want to continue.
After exiting through one of the holes of a large relic in the Demon Realm, they are all suddenly thrown into the void by a current of wind. As they fall, Ioradio explains that it is a measure to prevent blockades such as corpses and intruders. Returning to her demonic form, Ioradio saves Chion from the fall although he is reluctant to take her hand. Chion gets angry again when Isolde is saved from the fall by Tristan.
Surrounded by several demons, the Tristan Platoon, Ioradio and Lancelot are taken prisoner by Schwarz's group. However, when Ioradio reveals that they are allies of Percival, they immediately take them to King Zeldris's castle.
Tristan goes with Schwarz's group so they can return the weapons they confiscated. Tristan tells Chion that he could stay with Isolde, but Chion says that he must consider any risk to the prince's safety. When the demon Schwarz challenges Tristan to a fight, Chion asks him to let him handle it, but Tristan orders him to stay out of it. Chion worries about Tristan during the subsequent fight, rushing to help him when Schwarz leaves him badly beaten.
The next day, Chion receives Tristan at the castle, mentioning how strange it is that in the Demon Realm there is no day or night. When Tristan says that he must have disappointed everyone because of what happened the day before, Chion says that he hasn't said anything to Isolde and that he could never be disappointed in him. Chion evades the truth even when Isolde later asks him about how down Tristan is. There, Chion's spirits come out on their own from his jewelry, to which Chion scolds them for doing that. Isolde comments that the spirits look scared, leading Chion to remember that he had only seen them like that the first time they met Percival.
After six days of the flaming rain stopping, the group finally sets out for the Behemoth aboard an Albion to find the portal to Camelot. When everyone says that they still don't know anything about Gawain, Chion says that she is probably dead at the hands of the monsters or the miasma. When Lancelot also comments on the possibility that she betrayed them, Chion is surprised that he shares his own negative view, although Lancelot later states that he does not actually believe what he said. Chion then mocks Lancelot and Percival's confidence that Gawain will return and they will manage to stop Camelot, stating that things will not go as easily as if it were the story of a book. However, Tristan asks him to stop saying those things.
When the Albion is destroyed by Chaos Knights, the two groups confront each other, but the miasma begins to kill the Chaos Knights who cannot save themselves without Percival's power. When Anghalhad reproaches that they advance without even fighting fairly, Chion tells her to keep her chivalry to herself and that is why you always have to consider the worst case scenario. However, they are forced to save them so that some captured Gawain and Schwarz's group do not die as well. When Percival claims to have put the Behemoth to sleep by speaking to the Life Spirits within it, Chion denies that it is possible that he could speak to such elevated beings, but Anghalhad quickly silences him to ask Percival how he is.
In the ensuing battle, Chion helps Isolde stop the Testament Beast by knocking it down with his Gnome. However, they both get hit by an arrow thanks to Brackla's Snipe power. The two are later healed by Nasiens' medicine, though Chion is disgusted to hear what it is made of.
When Mortlach reveals that Percival is actually a Life Spirit in a human vessel, Chion is shocked to learn that he really is such a being.
Annwfyn Gladiator Festival arc[]
Two years after infiltrating Camelot, Chion and Isolde are revealed to have gone missing after seeking to free Tristan from the Annwfyn Cauldron prison.
The two reappear participating in the Gladiator Festival and helping Anghalhad. Chion uses his water spirit to drown other participants while Isolde detonates her bombs. When "Tantris" appears, claiming to be imposters pretending to be his friends, Chion tries to remind him of his past by showing him the scar on his face, but Tristan attacks him anyway, forcing Anghalhad to push him out of the way.
Chion then uses his Gogmagog to shield everyone from the huge tornado created by Howzer.
In the end, Chion and the rest move on to the final 16 of the Gladiator Festival, being matched against Tantris. During the interlude, Chion and Isolde reveal to their allies that during their mission in Camelot, the three wished to bring Jade back after seeing how the dead seemingly resurrected there. However, one day they realized that the one they had with them was not the real Jade, but a mere illusion. This led them to feel a deep rage towards Camelot, which erased the false Jade and made them fall into Annwfyn where after a year of searching, Chion and Isolde found Tristan with no memory and a false "Isolde".
Abilities/Equipment[]
As the son of a Diamond-ranked Holy Knight, Chion is exceptionally powerful. He is noted to have a natural gift for the Spirit Arts. After the two-year time skip, Chion demonstrated that he had evolved his combat skills to the point where he could defend himself from Tristan's attacks with his poleaxe and summon high-ranking spirits to aid him in combat and pressure him until he used his demonic power.

精霊召喚 , Samon Erementaru」:[3] A form of Spirit Arts「精 霊 術 , Seirei-jutsu」 that allows Chion to summon elemental Spirits to aid him in battle.[4] While initially he could only summon low-ranking spirits, after the two-year timeskip he is now able to use high-ranking ones.

Chion is very loyal to Tristan, to the point where he gets enraged when someone tries to put Tristan in danger in any way possible.
Jade[]
Chion and Jade have been best friends since childhood. Chion appreciates him so much that he seeks brutal revenge against those responsible for his death. It's also showing that Chion was caring so much for Jade that when they arrived at Camelot, Tristan, Isolde and him have wished for Jade to come back even knowing that Camelot was an illusion.
