Dawn「曙光ドーン, Dōn」[1][2] is a power possessed by Gawain

Description[]

Gawain's magic let her build up the power of the sun and convert into her own.[3]

In a similar way to Escanor using his power, Gawain undergoes a drastic change while using this power. She turns into a rather tall and well-built woman, surpassing the height of most grown men, and gaining physical abilities far superior to any regular person.

Gawain has high physical resistance to be able to take a beating from a powerful Demon such as Chaos Galand, and have strength enough to be capable of cutting open his torso, albeit along some usage of her teleporting powers.[4]

The heat given off by her magical aura is so intense that it can drain any fire-attribute attacks, such as Pellegarde's Pyre.

Gawain generates golden sparks when she uses her magic.

However, unlike Escanor, Gawain does not depend on the solar cycle to transform, being able to do so at will after accumulating magical power.[5] A drawback, however, is if Gawain overuses her magical power, it may leave her exhausted, unabling her to keep on fighting.[6]

During the two years timeskip, Gawain developed a better command of her power, acquiring a much larger and stronger form, even being able to partially transform part of her body. Gawain also able to use Dawn's techniques without transforming.

Techniques[]

  • Sunshine Burst「炸裂する太陽サンシャインバースト, Sanshain Bāsuto; lit. "Exploding Sun"」: Gawain concentrates the power of the sun to engulf the opponent in a fiery explosion that incinerates them.[7]
  • Rising Impact「天を衝く紅炎ライジングインパクト, Raijingu Inpakuto; lit. "Red Flames Piercing Heaven"」: Gawain releases a flaming blast with a punch at the opponent.[8]
  • Passionate Sun「情熱的な太陽パッショネイト・サン, Passhoneito San」: Gawain unleashes a gigantic sun which gradually incinerates the opponent.[9]
  • Tyrant Style「暴君型タイラントスタイル, Tairanto Sutairu」: Gawain releases at least 80% of the Solar Energy stored in her body, increasing her Physical Power to its peak. In this form, her muscles swell to the point where her body dwarfs that of her opponent, and her blows become more violent.[10]

  • This power share many similarities with Sunshine.
    • One of Gawain's technique, "Passionate Sun", is essentially a wordplay with a similar technique from Sunshine, "Cruel Sun".
  • Gawain's Rising Impact is a reference to Nakaba Suzuki's first manga, Rising Impact.
