Meliodas vs. King is a battle between fellow Seven Deadly Sins Meliodas and King, taking place in Istar's Training Grotto. The two initially intended to fight a monster together in the Grotto, but King grew suspicious of Meliodas's questions and
Prologue[]
King and Meliodas enter the Training Grotto together, instructed by Jenna to choose a Goddess Amber and fight the monster that is released from it. Both men strip down to wear loose training pants and are equipped only with weak practice batons made of ash wood. As they examine Ambers together, Meliodas suggests that King ought to be more considerate of Hendrickson’s lack of autonomy in his past actions. King asks how Meliodas knows so much about the Demon Clan and the Ten Commandments, and guesses (correctly) that Meliodas is a Demon. The Ambers are forgotten as, suspicious of Meliodas’s avoidance of truth and direct answers, King attacks him and demands to know his allegiance.
Battle[]
King telekinetically controls his practice baton, making it attack Meliodas on the ground whilst King remains levitating in the air. They exchange several blows this way, before King pulls back and reiterates his question.
Meliodas’s reply insinuates that his allegiance is to Elizabeth and the Seven Deadly Sins, and says that if King intends harm to those people then Meliodas is indeed his enemy.
King demands a straight answer and attacks again. Meliodas blocks every one of his blows and only receives small scratches before catching King’s practice baton, arresting it from King’s control.
Meliodas taunts King, asking how the fight will continue when he has King’s weapon, and in response King lands on the ground and uses his “Status Promotion” technique to turn a scratch on Meliodas’s left bicep into a gaping wound, gushing blood.
As Meliodas stumbles under the pain, King once again demands to know Meliodas’s true intentions. He observes that Meliodas never ages and describes his magic as “ominous [and] negative.” He also points out Meliodas’s familiarity with and knowledge of the demons that were sealed away three thousand years ago. He accuses Meliodas of being a member of the Ten Commandments, to which Meliodas doesn’t reply.
King attacks again with his “Status Promotion” technique, which Meliodas uses his “Full Counter” against. However, King obtained no injuries during the fight and is unharmed by his returned attack.
Then, Meliodas asks if King is a real Fairy King, pointing out that previous kings had proper sets of wings, and that King does not.
King tells him to shut up and uses his “Condense Power” technique on the baton Meliodas took from him, drawing out stored moisture from the dried wood to form a single droplet. To Meliodas’s surprise, King telekinetically controls the droplet of water and attacks Meliodas with it viciously enough to smash both batons to bits when Meliodas attempts to guard against it.
Meliodas compares the droplet to a bead of steel, and King explains how he condensed the residual water in the wood.
Meliodas dodges the droplet’s next attack and summons his Darkness before King can make another move. Instead of attacking, Meliodas moves his Darkness over his body and concentrates it in the center of his chest. He removes the Darkness from his body and levitates it in front of himself, clearly intending to emulate King’s technique, but before the fight can resume, Jenna interrupts the fight, broadcasting her voice into the Grotto and commanding that the pair leave the Grotto.
Aftermath[]
King tells Meliodas that Diane and Ban trust Meliodas wholeheartedly, and swears to never forgive Meliodas if he hurts them. As King angrily floats toward the exit, Meliodas says seriously that he can’t tell King the full truth and doubts King would even believe him. He insists that he’s being honest about that. King replies that he will watch Meliodas to determine if he’s a trustworthy man or not. He then asks if Meliodas remembers what he said when they met, but then discounts the question.
When confronted outside by Jenna and the other trainees, Meliodas brushes off the fight by claiming he and King disagreed over their sexual preferences with women.
