Melascula summoning souls from the afterlife

Souls「魂, Tamashī」 are the essence that represents an individual's life force, identity, and emotional imprint.

Appareance[]

Souls have a distinct and visible appearance when manifested outside the body. They are typically shown as small, glowing orbs or flames, often with a bluish-white or ethereal hue. These orbs are semi-transparent and emit a faint glow, giving them a ghostly, spiritual quality that clearly differentiates them from physical matter.

Overview[]

A soul is portrayed as an individual's personal essence. Every living creature has a soul, defining their identity, consciousness, and spiritual vitality.

Souls are the fundamental link between the living body and the afterlife. When someone dies, their soul typically departs their body and moves on to the Capital of the Dead, remain in the world of the living as a Ghost, or reincarnate in a new life with no memories of the previous one.

Souls can be seen, manipulated, consumed, or even stolen. For instance, Demons feed on souls to grow stronger, and certain characters can perceive or interact with souls directly.

A soul in the afterlife normally remains there no matter what. However, certain magical techniques can summon souls to the world of the living and even return them to their bodies temporarily. Elaine and Meliodas are exceptional cases, as she was permanently resurrected by receiving Ban's immortal life force, and he was fully resurrected multiple times do to his curse.

Trivia[]

  • Souls are also closely connected to Life Spirits. While Life Spirits embody the sustaining force of living things, souls are more directly about the individual's personal essence.
