Summon Elemental「
Description[]
This power is a form of "Spirit Arts"「
The caster can conjure elemental Spirits to aid them in battle, which control (and naturally dwell within) the four elements: wind, earth, fire, and water.[4]
Chion has noted that Spirit Arts, in terms of incantations, require the most precise pronunciation within the entire magic system.[5] At least in Chion's case, his four spirits are kept contained within gemstones of varying shape, and he can summon them from within (or force them back into) the stones at will.[6][7][8] Lower-level spirits like Chion's can be scared into retreating back into their vessels (or instead, hopping out of them) if they sense the presence of spirits of higher rank, such as Life Spirits.[9][10]
Life Spirits, the highest-ranking of all spirits,[11] can also be summoned by a user of this power, though at greater cost. Ironside used a Forbidden Spell「
Spirits[]
Chion[]
- Sylph「
風の精霊 , Shirufu; lit. "Spirit of Wind"」: A low-ranking Wind Spirit whose small body is composed of one rapidly swirling twister of wind; it has two arms, a tail, and two glowing eyes hiding underneath its windy exterior.[13] Chion keeps this Spirit contained within a polygonally cut gemstone.[14] - Gnome「
土の精霊 , Nōmu; lit. "Spirit of Earth"」: A low-ranking Earth Spirit of small size and humanoid shape, made of earth and bearing a face like a bearded old man's. At the user's command, the Gnome can grab hold a target with large arms formed from the ground, in order to restrain and, if Chion wishes, crush and entomb them.[18][19] The stone containing Gnome is a small cluster of pointy crystals.[20]- Ganji-garame「
岩 字 搦 め, Ganji-garame; lit. "Rock Apprehension"」: Gnome hides underground so that it can grab an opponent from below, forcing them to bow down and leaving them open for subsequent assault.[21] - Boltseca「ボルツェカ, Borutseka」: This command makes Gnome to grab both of the opponent's feet to immobilize them.[22]
- Ganji-garame「
- Salamander「
炎の精霊 , Saramandā; lit. "Spirit of Fire"」: A low-ranking Fire Spirit resembling a flame-bodied lizard or diminutive dragon, complete with small wings. The Salamander can breathe fire,[23] and Chion keeps it within a dark, spherical gemstone.[24]- Vivaro「ヴィヴァロ, Vivaro」: This command is used to make his Salamander chase down a designated target by following their blood's scent.[25]
- Shichoso「
死 鳥 葬 , Shichōsō; lit. meaning "Death Bird Funeral"」: Chion has his own Salamander call upon all of its kin that dwell in nearby fire sources (like torches), making them rise up into the sky and fuse into one giant firebird that rushes past and incinerates a target, the resulting explosion resembling a firework.[26]
- Shichoso「
- Killabusta「
火柱 , Kirabasuta; lit. "Flame Pillar"」: The Salamander rushes towards the opponent to carry him away in a flaming torrent.[27]
- Vivaro「ヴィヴァロ, Vivaro」: This command is used to make his Salamander chase down a designated target by following their blood's scent.[25]
- Unnamed Spirit of Water: This low-ranking Water Spirit takes the form of a small girl with a body made of water,[28].[29] It is contained within a small, elongated crystal with sharp points, akin to an icicle.[30]
- Javoneh「ジャヴォネ, Javone」: This command makes the Water Spirit to surround the opponent's head with a floating blob of water that prevents them from breathing.[31]
- Gogmagog「ゴグマゴグ, Gogumagogu」: A pair of high-ranking Earth Spirits consisting of two golems, one resembling a rock giant with immense strength and the other a plump creature made of sand that can regenerate from attacks it suffers.[32]
- Tamunayepa「タムナイェーパ, Tamunayēpa」: The command makes the Gogmagog shield the user with its huge body.[33]
- Golmacura Yente「
追撃の石鎚 , Gorumakyura Iente; lit. "Chasing Stone Hammer"」: Rock Gogmagog pursues its target with its giant fists that stretch and bend in an abnormal manner.[34] - Salzamt Basso「
流砂地獄 , Zaruzamuto Basso; lit. "Quicksand Hell"」: Sand Gogmagog creates a massive and violent sandstorm that suffocates the target.[35] - Darth Ezraol「
モズの早贄 , Dāsu Ezoraoru; lit. "Shrike's Sacrifice"」: Gogmagog creates a gigantic, sharp pillar of rock that impales the target.[36]
Combined Techniques[]
- Combined Technique: Keiken naru Inori「
合 技 "敬 虔 なる祈 り", Gōgi "Keiken naru Inori"; lit. "Pious Prayer"」: Chion immobilizes the opponent with Gnome's Ganji-garame to allow Isolde to place Time Bombs on the target.[37]
Ironside[]
- Djinn「
風の王 , Jin; lit. "King of Wind"」: A high-ranking Wind Spirit under Ironside's control, described as the "Djinn Who Rules Over Sylphs"「風の民 を統 べる風の王 , Shirufu wo Suberu Jin; lit. "King of Wind Who Rules Over the Wind People"」. It takes the form of a giant humanoid which, like lesser Sylphs, is entirely made of swirling winds, which make up its bulky body, arms, and queue-like braid; its head is seemingly made of more stagnant air, revealing the entity's clear features.[38]- "Djinn's Blades"「
風の王 の刃 , Jin no Yaiba; lit. "King of Wind's Blades"」[39]: Ironside projects "energy slashes" in the shape of glowing crosses by pointing his two fingers in front of him. These "slashes" are powerful enough to slice through flesh and pulverize rock with ease. Ironside uses them primarily offensively, such as to counter enemy attacks by "dispersing" them.[40][41][42][43] Ironside can also control the trajectory of the "slashes" with enough precision to pursue the opponent, no matter how fast they dodge. However, despite their apparent effectiveness, these "slashes" are not enough to scratch Ban, due to his already greatly overdeveloped resistance.[44] - Falca「
浮風 , Faruka; lit. "Floating Wind"」: Allows Ironside to float in midair, seemingly creating a cushion of wind that he can also use to break a fall.[47] - Velkira「ヴェルキラ, Verukira」: This command fully materializes the Djinn around Ironside, the Spirit granting its summoner elemental "protection" by cloaking him in wind.[48]
- Zirvath Ertango「
風の協葬曲 , Jirubasu Erutango; lit. "Funeral Song of the Wind"」: This command makes the Djinn expand its own body to engulf Ironside's immediate surroundings within a spherical wind barrier. This traps a given enemy while serving as a medium for Ironside to unleash subsequent wind attacks inside, like Belfest Margot.[49]
- "Djinn's Blades"「
- Ragna Claw「
崩衝 , Raguna Kurō; lit. "Collapsing Opposition"」: By whirling his hands around, Ironside calls forth what seems like an invisible downforce, strong enough to collapse the ground and open up a massive hole.[50] It is unconfirmed what Spirit's power is drawn on for this technique.

Trivia[]
- "Elementals" are mythical creatures aligned with the elements of nature. Occult and alchemy texts from around the time of the European Renaissance talk of invisible, partly physical "spirits" that correspond to the four classical elements: air, earth, fire, and water. The 16th-century Swiss alchemist Paracelsus identified four classes of spirits accordingly:
- Undines (water spirits);
- Sylphs (air spirits);
- Gnomes (earth spirits);
- Salamanders (fire spirits).
- A djinn (Arabic: جِنّ, jinn), also anglicized as genie, is a type of intelligent spirit in pre-Islamic Arabian and later Islamic mythology, sometimes associated with the wind.
- It is possible that Ironside's flying row boat[51] is kept afloat through his Wind Spirit's power; the boat's underside is marked by a starlike pattern resembling the Knight's star-shaped slashes.
- Gogmagog was a legendary giant in Welsh mythology.
- Although, being seemingly a pair of spirits, it could be also a reference to Gog and Magog.
