Turret「タレット」 is a Holy Knight serving King Arthur Pendragon of Camelot.

Appearance[]

Personality[]

As a Holy Knight raised and trained by Ironside, Turret is loyal to him and thus to Diodora and grateful that the man brought him and Rothes in after being orphaned by the previous Holy War. As such, he stood by Diodora's side in the tournament to "reclaim" Ironside's memories, doing whatever it took as per their teachings. Even summoning invisible beasts that stomped on Anghalhad, not stopping even when she wasn't able to continue, maintaining a calm and composed expression the entire time.

He is arrogant and cocky, belittling Rothes for his loss to Nasiens, showing arrogance and conceit like Ironside, glaring at Gawain who mocked his reaction. Also shown when he laughs at Gawain for being pathetic after she refused to fight his beasts, only to be embarrassed by her when she transforms.

In truth, Turret was jealous of and hated Diodora who received Ironside's unconditional love, viewing him as pathetic and undeserving of such things, while convincing and manipulating Rothes to strangle him to death.

History[]

Turret is, along with Rothes, an orphan of the Holy War that was taken under care of Ironside. The two becomed knights under the direct supervision of King Arthur and Ironside, being in charge of capturing beasts from Purgatory for Arthur.

Plot[]

Wolnack arc[]

When a bird arrives to inform Mortlach of a mission from king Arthur, he leaves, leaving Diodora in charge of Turret and Rothes.

Annwfyn Gladiator Festival arc[]

At some point after Ironside lost his memories upon receiving the power of Chaos, Turret ends up opening a fall to the Cauldron of Annwfyn when he doubts the reason why Ironside ended up like this and Arthur did nothing to help him, ending up trapped with Diodora and Rothes.

Turret appears alongside Rothes participating in the Annwfyn Gladiator Festival to protect Diodora. During the battle royale, the two drives Percival away from Diodora. Turret then eliminates several other fighters by summoning an invisible creature.

After making it to the final 16, Turret is paired against Gawain. He and Rothes watch Diodora's fight against Anghalhad, telling him to fight as he has trained and he will win. However, seeing Diodora outmatched by the level difference, Turret orders his Salvahn to attack Anghalhad. Even though Diodora and Rothes notice what he is doing, Turret says that he will do whatever it takes to ensure Diodora wins.

After the fight, Turret has a brief exchange with Gawain, saying that what happened to Anghalhad was simply a result of her weakness. Turret then takes Diodora's complaints about his interference in the fight, saying that his father would never agree to such a cowardly move, but Turret tells him that he did it for his father as he must win at any cost to save him. Though Diodora says that he went too far, Turret reminds him of Ironside's words "if you face an enemy, you must snap off their fangs and crush their soul". Turret then tells him to rest while they wait for Rothes' fight.

Turret berates Rothes for his defeat against Nasiens, saying that no small mistake is allowed in a real battle. Gawain intervenes, mocking that if they do not distinguish between "small mistake" and fate, they will never win the festival, much less the war.

As he begins his fight with Gawain, Turret says several things about punishing her insolence, but Gawain fires her Fireball at him, telling him that he talks too much. Turret protects himself with Salvahn's help and manages to get the beast to attack Gawain, surprising her by being able to fly. Gawain then creates ten Thunderballs that then disappear. Believing her spell failed, Turret orders Salvahn to attack again, only to be obliterated by the invisible Thunderballs.

Though Gawain promises to teach him a lesson as the beastmaster, Turret reveals that his Invocation power tames the Purgatory beasts that emerge from the gates created by his companion Rothes. Summoning three new monsters, Turret declares that not even her bones will be left to collect. Turret sends his three beasts to attack Gawain, eventually cornering her. Gawain claims that she is not heartless enough to harm innocent creatures, but that she will make an exception for him for harming Anghalhad. Turret scoffs at her excuses or begging for her life, but Gawain promptly transforms with her magical power, punching a surprised Turret into the wall of the fighting arena.

During the interval before the second round, Diodora shows concern for Turret's injuries and offers to bring him food. However, Turret is left alone with Rothes, revealing that he does not really care about Diodora, who is just a "failure" who earned Ironside's love for being his biological son, unlike the two of them who have served and revered him since they were children. Rothes initially rebukes him for this, but Turret makes him see that Rothes actually feels the same way, that the two of them deserve to be Ironside's true sons.

Upon discovering Rothes' corpse, Turret is confronted by Diodora, who tells him that he was the one who sealed Rothes' fate and asks if he will oppose him as well. Turret viciously attacks him with his whip, but then Diodora's newly awakened power reflects all injuries back at Turret, leaving him nearly dead. Seeing that he can't absorb his magic because he's still alive, Diodora uses Rothes's Gatekeeper to kill Turret with the miasma of Purgatory.

Abilities/Equipment[]

  • Invocation調伏インヴォケーションInvokēshon」: A power that allows Turret to call creatures to do his bidding. He mainly uses it to control Purgatory beasts summoned from the rifts opened by Rothes' Gatekeeper power.[1]

Equipment[]

Turret uses a special flute in conjunction with his magic power. This flute was magically crafted to whistand the miasma of Purgatory.

In battle, Turret uses a three-section whip.

Relationships[]

Trivia[]

  • Like many of the Camelot Holy Knights, Turret is named after the Glenturret distillery, a Highland single malt Scotch whisky distillery located in Scotland on the banks of the Turret River.
